Could there be a better way to celebrate the end of dry January? Our friends at Cambridge Spirits will take you on a tasting journey to sample some of the great single malts from around the world. The tasting will take place at 520 Kendall Street (next to Vico Style). Along with the spirits, enjoy charcuterie by Kured. As always, these tastings are free to attend for BioMed Realty tenants and area residents, but please register in advance here.

What’s on the Tasting Menu?
Drumshanbo Single Malt Irish Whiskey Galánta (Ireland)
Galánta from The Shed Distillery is the first single malt Irish whiskey distilled in Ireland’s Connacht in over 107 years. This triple distilled single malt was drawn from Kentucky bourbon casks, which have imparted a wealth of orchard fruit, brown sugar, and toasted spice notes. Always exciting to see the renaissance of Irish whiskey continue to go from strength to strength.
Hillrock Estate Distillery Single Malt Whiskey (New York)
Estate grown barley is traditionally smoked in the malt house with imported peat from Scotland for 12 hours prior to distillation, creating a uniquely delicate whiskey. Notes of crème brûlée and shortbread with caramelized orange and heather on the nose open to a balanced and smooth palate faint with citrus notes, but rounded with toffee, dried fruit, cinnamon, and clove. The very long and slightly dry finish has a delicate, smokiness which lingers in this bright, honey amber whiskey.
High Coast Hav Swedish Single Malt Whisky (Sweden)
Hav is the Swedish word for Sea. In the majestic landscape of a world heritage site, High Coast Distillery sits where the beautiful river Ångermanälven merges into the sea. Here, the river is just about to reach the coast and slowly disappear out into the world, just like this single malt whisky. The message Hav brings to the world is an expression of oak, with a touch of spice and a little northern hardiness. Part of the High Coast origin series, showcasing the distillery’s location, history and geography.
Akashi White Oak Single Malt Whisky (Japan)
AKASHI White Oak Single Malt Whisky is a blend of 7 yr, 5 yr and 4 yr malts, from 3 different types of cask, Spanish Cherry Oak, American Oak and Bourbon Oak casks. The single malt whisky has no age statement, but has plenty of rich malty flavor and a supple fruited character.
